A2A Final Series
Odd no-one's commented on S3 yet, given that it's our leading show at Cineology 2010!
Anyway, I thought the first episode was really treading water - brought nothing new to the table at all. Thankfully E2 was much tighter, funnier and edgier. I fear for Shaz's future, though... _________________ John

Not sure I can quite put my finger on it, but the atmosphere and tone of this last series has changed. Seems...Heavier, somehow. Good episode for Dean Andrews to strut his stuff last week. _________________ John

Note to self: Must use "Uptown Girl" to intro Dean & Phil at the con!

That had to be one of the funniest things I have seen on TV in a while.
And yet it sort of worked!...

Brilliant episode this week, though it was a little too obvious that the undercover detective had switched sides. Hopefully the rest of the series will sustain this level! _________________ John

Agreed - you can tell we're really building up to something.
Could it be writing itself a page in television history that casts a very long shadow?
I certainly hope so!

Maybe Dave Bowman will show up soon?

I had to look that name up! Haven't seen the film in many, many years (and not read any of the books). _________________ John

What an absolutely STUNNING finale! Probably the best end of show/end of season episode I've seen so far this year, and easily my favourite episode of all three seasons, if not the totality of LoM and A2A. It felt a bit like a missing episode from Supernatural crossed with the Twilight Zone. _________________ John

Wow!
Have the writers been saving themselves for this final episode?
I had mixed feelings about the end of this series, I've come to enjoy the characters and didn't want to see them have a disappointing ending. I'm glad they got the send off they deserved.
I did work out who the buried body was about 3 seconds before we were told, although I'm not sure what gave it away for me.
And the very end was well done.
(Don't want to say too much in case people have not watched it yet!)

I'd sort of guessed who the buried body would turn out to be but I did have to rewind on I-player to freeze frame the warrant card just to be certain.

I was intrigued by the idea of Hunt and Keats almost being set up as an allegorical depiction of "God" and "the Devil" - at the time I wasn't sure which was meant to be which. Until someone pointed out that when Keats was taking Ray and the others to the lift they would be going down!
Nice scene at the end as Drake realised that she wouldn't see her daughter again - I had been expecting scenes of her back in the present (a la Tyler's scenes in the "Life on Mars" finale) until this as I then realised that Gene Hunt-world is some form of limbo and that she'd been dead all along. (Obviously, Tyler hadn't been dead in "LoM" until he threw himself of the building at the end).
I hope they're not tempted to revive this in a couple of years as I think it's been rounded off nicely.
