I'd been looking forward to this since hearing about it a while back, and it didn't disappoint. Coming from Paul Cornell I'd expected some humour but instead we got a straight, gory horror thriller. It was exciting, quite scary and certainly hugely bloody. They've left plenty of holes in the plot in case it does get commissioned as a series, and that made it a little confusing but I'm hooked! Fingers crossed.

Found it all rather dull and "so what?" Nothing remotely original, a storyline that was all over the place and a cast that seemed to be just going through the motions.

If it does make a series then I shan't bother. Unengaging and very "seen it all before". There's no "hook", no USP.

I agree with the originality comment. Horror tends to be derivative anyway, so I'm used to it! As for a USP, that depends on how many UK sci-fi/fantasy/horror series are on at the time. If you ignore US ones, you're left with very little else to support in the hope that it builds. We can't just watch US stuff (something I'm very nearly guilty of!).

I take your point but I'm not going to watch something just because it's the only UK genre programme on at the time. Neither am I going to support something of poor quality just because there's nothing else available.

The comparisons with "Being Human" are obvious - but "Being Human" had a charm which "Pulse" lacked - it had characters that appeared to be better thought through and certainly came over as more interesting. After the "Being Human" pilot I was intrigued enough to want to know more - after "Pulse" I frankly couldn't care less.

Anyhow, there's UK stuff on the way with new series of "Merlin", "Primeval" and the afforementioned "Being Human" on their way in the next 12 months. And if you want me to back UK genre programmes then give us another series of "Survivors" or "Paradox" - but "Pulse"? No thanks.
