Amazed that no-one's posted on this - the ratings (7.6 million) suggest that you couldn't possibly have missed it!
Absolute joy watching this Moffat and Gatiss production - with Gatiss getting screentime being positively Mandelson-esque in his performance.
The onscreen words used to detail what was being seen by Mr Holmes was an excellent gimmick, probably inspired by the opening credits to LIE TO ME? (Speaking of which, if you aren't watching LIE TO ME, you're missing another treat!).
Hope the ratings hold and we get more episodes following this initial trio. Mind you, does anyone think Mr Moffat might be overstretching doing this AND Who? Mind you, he might have done an RTD Torchwood and just provided the initial segment? We shall see...

Yup, saw this, and series-linked it on my SkyHD box.
Excellent respin on the characters, with Benedict Cumberbatch looking like he's halfway between Nicholas Rowe from "Young Sherlock Holmes" and Jeremy Brett,
Martin Freeman's Afghan Vet Watson was also superb.

I would go as far as to say it was the best thing I have seen for some time.
Very well written (as you would expect) and wonderful acting (as you would expect) from the well cast leads.
You certainly had to concentrate. (Normally if I pop out to refresh my drink I leave the TV going - it was paused for this!).
I loved the visible texting stuff and the map during the chase scene.
Looking forward to more of the same.

I concur. My only criticism would be that it was almost too clever for its own good, like it was saying "look at me, I'm very clever!". The "Wrong!" SMS gag in the press conference got slightly tedious, for example.
Otherwise, I loved it, too. Damn that Holmes
is
clever! _________________ John

I absolutely agree - I'm loving this and I'm rather sad that there's only about 3 or 4 episodes.
It's so well done and so damned clever. I just love the on screen graphics and I kept shouting "wrong" at the TV during that texting scene in the first episode - brilliant stuff.
Martin Freeman is truly great when he has a decent script in front of him and I love BC's depiction of Holmes - just wonderful.
It's kind of like a Department S for the 21st Century - sort of, ish _________________ Sarah

Missing it already!
So sad it is finished.
More please!
Great ending, yes it was fairly obvious Moriarty would use Watson as his final 'bomb' but that did not matter. I do like a cliff hanger.
Undecided weather Moriarty being portrayed as he was, all cocky and hip was right or not, but it seemed to work. Perhaps he could have remained a shadowy figure until the next series?
Regardless, I loved this show and demand some more!!

I wasn't sure about Paul McCartney playing Moriarty, either! _________________ John
