Days after reaching an agreement with director Spike Lee who slapped media giant Viacom with a lawsuit, effectively blocking them from rebranding their cable network TNN to Spike TV, the company if facing further legal action from a former stripper who claims she is the true creator of Pamela Anderson's new animated series Stripperella.
Janet Clover, a former exotic dancer at Tanga's Jazz in Tampa, Florida, is suing the cable network, Pamela Anderson and Marvel Comics' Stan Lee, claiming the pole-dancing superheroine is her invention.
Referring to herself in the court papers as 'Sensual Entertainer's Home Studio Founder,' the now unemployed adult entertainer claims she first suggested the idea to Lee during a private encounter when he stopped by the gentleman's club over a year ago.
Challenging Lee to produce proof of his creative work in designing Stripperella's Secret Agent 69, Clover told the Daytona Beach News-Journal, "She is supposed to be a nurse, which is what I'm studying for. I can't remember much about Mr. Lee, little bits and pieces come back. You know, I meet a lot of men."
Representatives for Viacom, Pamela Anderson and Stan Lee have so far declined to comment on the lawsuit.
Using both her sex appeal and array of gadgetry, as well as her special 'scissor-ella' leg manoeuvre to subdue her enemies, the PG-13 rated cartoon series premiered on Spike TV at the end of June as the anchor of their late-night animation block. The pilot episode saw Stripperella beating off the dastardly Dr. Cesarian, voiced by Mark Hamill, a plastic surgeon injecting models with deadly implants.
Screened after Ren & Stimpy Adult Party Cartoon and Gary the Rat, Stripperella attracted 2 million viewers. Although Spike TV are continuing to promote the series, The Big Cartoon Database has since reported that the animation crew working on the series have been laid off with only four episodes completed.
In the meantime Stan Lee has formed a partnership with DIC Entertainment to create 'The Stan Lee Universe.' The first project in development is the animated Stan Lee's The Secret of the Super Six. The new series follows a group of super-powered aliens chased to Earth by their adversaries and discovered by Lee who becomes the sixth member of their team to help them adjust to life in their new environment.
